For a while I hosted the site locally using an account with the good folks at dyndns.org which ran in tandem with my friend's hosting and maintaining the two in syncgronism was a veritable pain. The dyndns addresses ceased when difficulties with my router's ports happened on replacing the elderly HP Vectra being used with an IBM Netvista or more recent vintage. This happened because of the Vectra "dying". You can see a page about my study and my computers here and here.
Here and here you can see the assistance rendered by the then youngest member of the household.
We got the name back because even though usury by the internet name reselling industry attempted to on-sell the name,
nobody else wanted to buy it. So it finally lapsed and my friend saw it was available again!
The hosting on the exagorazo.net site has not been kept up-to-date because of the difficulties in maintaining the two in synchronism without a full-time webmaster, so my thanks to my friend Tim for his generous help for a couple of years. Onya mate (Australian slang meanining "Good On Ya".
This site is about a range of things...
Because I am a Christian, it is a repository of Christian thought... .
Because I realise just how important my faith is to me, I would very much like to share it with you.
I make absolutely no apology for that. It's a question of take it, or leave it.
NO attempt will be made to convert you to any specific flavour of Christianity, because there should only be one - that which conforms totally to what is referred to as "Biblical truth" - with nothing added that cannot be substantiated by the Bible, and nothing removed from the teachings which are included in those 66 books of the New and Old Testaments.
This is because God is unchanging - that is part of His nature. What has changed a number of times, as one reads from the Creation through to the end of the apostolic era, is mankind's level of belief - or should I more accurately say unbelief - and the way in which God has varied his ultimate plan for us humans to allow for the degree of unbelief at any one time, hoping that we will "Get our act together" which of necessity is an ongoing situation, with rise and fall according to our stupidity, not His changing His mind.
The site is in part an archive of teaching articles, mostly by other people, on biblical principles. Some of that is in webpage format (html) like this page. Others are in portable document file (pdf) format, and some is in music - either in the form of recordings or of sheet music - and because of copyright laws, permission has either been obtained, or a small portion is reproduced under the "fair dealing" provisions of copyright law. Some is reproduced from study notes which I received when attending bible classes, and in some cases I have taught from those notes in various circumstances.
From time to time - usually by a friend's request, or by arrangement, I permit access to my own computers by other internet users. This uses the special internet address of http://eagles-lair.dyndns.org which is an excellent service provided by a company specialising in "Dynamic Domain Name Services". You may take a link here to check out the latest updates to this system.
Why is the name of the site "eagles-lair.org" ?
It is a .org because it is a not-for-profit website; .com is used for a commercial organisation, .net is for a network. Some countries, like the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Scandinavia use .co instead of .com, and in some cases an address is registered with a national registration authority and carries a suffix like .au (Australia), .nz (New Zealand) or .za (Republic of South Africa).
This site has no national interests or boundaries... it is as applicable to Australia (where I live) as it is to the United States (where a good friend of mine hosts it for me), as it is to the UK (where I was born)...
Why "eagles-lair" is best answered by your taking a link to pages where biblical eagles are discussed. "For they who wait upon the Lord shall mount up, with wings, like eagles; they shall walk and not be weary, they shall run and not faint". That link is here
Because you may think that Christians have unbalanced perspectives, you may be surprised to find (here) in-depth stuff about computers (including the Micro$oft versus the rest of the world saga), music, the military, railways, and all sorts of other things. You see a Christian lives IN the world, but only participates insofar that their activities are appropriate for someone who (to quote the Bible) "has an eye single to God's glory" (my paraphrase).
Throughout this site, we shall try to place links to other associated pages like the one below...
I also appreciate the support given to me by my dear wife Pat who has to put up with ongoing chronic pain and the many other symptoms of both Chronic Fatigue (Immune Dysfunction) Syndrome and Post Polio Syndrome. Pat had Polio as a kid :(
And thanks also for the encouragement of several close on-line friends of several Christian chat rooms on IRC.
